The sagittal evaluation and classification of midfacial morphology in Chinese Han Youth: A cross-sectional study

      Midface is located in the central area of the facial region and plays a crucial role in the esthetic evaluation of one's appearance. The East Asian, especially the Chinese, has wide and flat midfacial bone structure, low piriform aperture area compared with the prominent zygomatic and oral region, which results in an unpleasant appearance.

      In contrast to the patients' surging demand of midface filling surgery, there is a lack of evaluation standard for midfacial depression, nor quantitative and objective grading system for midface morphology. In the current study, we collected the three-dimensional (3D) facial information of Chinese Han Youth and summarized the morphological characteristics of their midface, focusing on the concavity and convexity from the sagittal plane.
