Live Surgery: An innovative plastic surgery teaching programme for medical students utilising real-time operating theatre audiovisual link-ups

Published:January 14, 2019DOI:https://doi.org/10.1016/j.bjps.2019.01.004
For undergraduate students the operating theatre constitutes an important and unique educational experience. Despite this, traditional ‘in theatre’ surgical training is not without problems. The environment naturally limits the number of students who may safely or usefully attend at any one time. Furthermore, feedback suggests that many students find the surgical environment particularly intimidating and are reluctant to ask questions as a consequence.
