The modified scar approach for young patients undergoing lengthening temporalis myoplasty

      The lengthening Temporalis Myoplasty (LTM) is an effective dynamic facial reanimation procedure developed by Daniel Labbe in the early 1990s to rectify some of the problems associated with the traditional McLaughlin technique, as well as the potential aesthetic problems from introducing bulky free tissue transfers into the cheek.

      However, for younger patients without a well-defined nasolabial fold, the LTM does have the disadvantage of requiring a nasolabial incision to access the coronoid process and inset the temporalis tendon.
