Volume of deep inferior epigastric perforator flap quantified preoperatively by using 64-multidetector-row computed tomography

Because of the high spatial resolution and reduction of radiation dose, multidetector-row computed tomography (MDCT) has been adopted as a routine medical procedure. With the progress of computer, MDCT images are reconstructed in three-dimensional volume-rendering CT, and may help to improve surgical strategies and perform safer and faster procedures. Recent studies demonstrate the usefulness of MDCT in the evaluation of the vascular anatomy of the inferior abdominal wall before deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap breast reconstruction.
