Vacuum-assisted lipodissection in free flap harvesting

Some free flaps have the intrinsic disadvantage of a short vascular pedicle. In these cases, the pedicle should be harvested over all its available length as this will be helpful in performing a tension-free microanastomosis. However, particular difficulties may be present during the dissection and can sometimes lead to a suboptimal pedicle length. Here we report on the use of vacuum-assisted lipodissection in two specific situations during perforator flap harvesting.
