Anterolateral thigh island pedicled flap in trochanteric pressure sore reconstruction

Published:March 13, 2007DOI:https://doi.org/10.1016/j.bjps.2005.09.050
The anterolateral thigh flap has been used successfully as a pedicled flap, primarily for reconstructing the perineal, groin and abdominal wall. With the incorporation of the fascia of tensor fascia latae, it is particularly useful for repairing hernia defects of abdominal wall and provides skin cover.

Reconstruction of deep pressure sores of the trochanteric area with exposed bone is a difficult problem. There are many options of local rotational or transposition flap for the reconstruction of trochanteric pressure sores. We report an alternative method to these methods.
