      namely that it does not suffice to ‘core out’ the sinus of the nostril only as the skin projection will remain. To create a flap that can be thinned, trimmed or plicated, extension of the incision is virtually always necessary resulting in a larger scar with an increased risk of ending with a hypertrophic scar or keloid. Bear in mind that most of the cases that have been reported, were from Afro-Asian descent. The risk of excessive scar formation is even bigger when partial wound breakdown occurs, as happened in our first case
