Summary
Seventy-eight augmentation mammary operations have been performed using the Akiyama prosthesis (four with the prefilled type and 74 with the empty type) over a period of four years. In six instances the operation wound disrupted but five out of the six were secondary operations after prior injection of DMPS.
The prosthetic bag, especially the unfilled type, is an excellent and unique medical material for implantation because of its softness, shape and minimal scarring.
